Self-proven

I visited
lavish palaces
golden properties
lay with none:
trophy-wives
half-jewels
blonde courtesans
centrespread idols
dancing willow-girls
glamour-pusses
demigoddesses
sex-bombs.

Then I went
downtown
pawned my halo
for a song
got out of my head
lay in the gutter
sweet-talking the moon
flirting with her
crawled to the beach
under the stars
slept like the legends
regretting nothing.
