Carried Upstream

by Aidan Andrew Dun

On a rocking-horse
that cut the water
on a feathered vessel
and riverboat driven
with webbed wheels
of perpetual motion
in the pleasurecraft of
Aphrodite upholstered
with clouds on the deck
of her white back
newborn riders
the sunbird’s children sailed
travelling above vast
ripples, alarming
black mouths of sinister
waterfowl opening
between white wings
the new waterfarers
riding the generous
sundeck of the white ship
driven by goodwill
astonishing force
which shot deep fires
into a blind man’s eye
sending discernment
to a dark heart lightened
to see great love enshrined
in the sunlit world.
